Construction vehicle routes
As outlined on the online map, all construction vehicles will:
- Enter and exit campus via Cayley Gates (at Point A)
- Follow the designated blue routes across campus
- Access the construction site via the two site entrances at Points B and C
Changes to traffic and pedestrian management
To ensure the safety of students, staff and visitors moving around campus, a number of traffic management measures have been implemented. These arrangements are expected to remain in place for at least the next 18 months, supporting both site safety and the delivery of the construction programme.
Key changes include:
- New pedestrian crossings installed:
- Along Margaret Keay Road
- On James France Walk
- Between Cayley Gates and the construction site
- Crowd control barriers and highway approved signage positioned at key locations to guide pedestrians towards designated safe crossing points.
- Security presence Monday to Friday to support traffic management around the crossroads.
Road closures and parking
Margaret Keay Road remains closed from the University Road junction (top of the hill) past Bridgeman to the Hall development site entrance and from the Falkner Eggington car park towards EHB.
James France Walk remains closed for vehicles and pedestrians.
The short‑stay car park at the swimming pool has been reconfigured and is now divided into two separate areas. Parking closest to the LSU has returned to standard use, while the section adjacent to the pool remains designated as short‑stay parking, with a maximum stay of two hours.
The temporary car parks remain closed due to ongoing adverse weather conditions.
There is typically good availability at the Multi‑Storey and Holywell Park Car Parks in the West Park area of campus. To support access, the on‑campus shuttle bus service has been increased, making travel between West Park and the central and eastern areas of campus more convenient.
When organising events or visits to campus, please advise visitors and guests to park in the Multi‑Storey and/or Holywell Park Car Parks.
All updates on the construction will be included on the hall development website.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation while these essential works are underway, and we ask all members of the campus community to follow the signed routes and safety instructions at all times.
