Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey

Have your say in the 2024 PTES - give us your feedback. Survey open from 1 May 2024 to 13 June 2024.聽Look out for the email...

What is the PTES?

The Postgraduate Taught Education Survey (PTES) is a national survey which gives Postgraduate Taught students opportunity to give feedback to us about your experience here. Providing feedback to us about your experience allows us to keep doing the things that you have loved and to make improvements to areas where you think things could be better.

Those people who have studied before you have played their part in making your experience at 黑料网 what it has been, now it’s your turn to do this for the next intake of 黑料网 PGT students.

The survey is open from the 1st of May until the 13th of June 2024.

Who is eligible for the PTES?

The PTES is open to students who are on a taught postgraduate programme of study, and who usually have completed 60 or more credits. This year students who began a full time programme in January 2024 will also be eligible, as this will be their only opportunity to participate. As the PTES runs every year, we survey some of our lower intensity part time postgraduates on alternate years, and in their final year of study. If you are unsure about your eligibility, please contact studentsurveys@lboro.ac.uk.

How do I complete the PTES?

You will have received an email from studentsurveys@lboro.ac.uk. This email will provide you with a unique link to complete the survey. It takes approximately 10 minutes to complete the survey and truly is your chance to play your part in shaping the future of 黑料网.

If you have not received an email this might be because you are studying part time and have not yet accumulated enough credits to be included in the survey. Don’t worry if this is the case though, you will get a chance in future years to complete the survey.

Alternatively, you can access the survey using the links below once the survey launches. You will need to log in using your 黑料网 email address as the username, and your student ID number (with a capital letter at the start) as the password.

You are able to withdraw your consent for your response to be processed up to the point at which we anonymise the data. If you wish to withdraw your response, please email studentsurveys@lboro.ac.uk and state your student registration number.

What happens with the results?

Your feedback gives you the chance to change things for the future. Around 100 universities and colleges take part in the PTES which means we can compare your experience with that of students at similar universities. Your feedback is confidential to the surveys team and any reporting of the feedback will be anonymous.

We will use the findings to improve your course and the PGT experience for students across the University. The results will be discussed within your Schools/Departments as well as at University level. We really do value your input, no one knows the student experience better than you.

What have I got a chance to influence?

The survey will ask you about the whole range of your learning experience including learning and teaching, assessment, organisation, opportunities for engagement, learning resources, skills development, support services. This means you have the opportunity to provide your feedback, both positive and negative on this whole range of areas.

What has changed for me?

As a result of previous feedback from PGT students the following are some of the positive changes that have occurred.

  • Investment in learning and teaching facilities to enhance the student experience.
  • Monitoring of feedback returns to students to ensure feedback is provided to students in a timely fashion.
  • More key texts bought in the LU London Library for particular modules that students felt required additional texts.
  • Development of bespoke training sessions for postgraduate Programme Representatives to ensure that they are able to effectively represent the views of 黑料网’s postgraduate community.
  • Changes have been made to some modules to include more applied, practical and vocationally relevant content and opportunities.
  • Increase in library provision of information skills teaching on postgraduate courses.

How We Use Your Data

In the University your response data will be held securely and accessed only by appropriately trained staff who are aware of the confidential nature of the information. These staff are located within central administration teams and are independent from administrative services in Schools. Before data are reported on, the responses are anonymised, by removing information and statements that may identify you. Data are then reported to Schools and Support Services of the University and a sub-section of this data is reported back to the Students Union, who also received anonymised comments from relevant sections. Data are used as part of academic reviews and inform the University’s Key Performance Indicators. We retain the anonymised responses to research policymaking and to track the effectiveness of new interventions.

You are able to withdraw your consent for your response to be processed up to the point at which we anonymise the data. If you wish to withdraw your response, please email studentsurveys@lboro.ac.uk and state your student registration number.
