Academic Language Support Service
Whether you are an undergraduate, postgraduate taught or PhD student, we want to help you achieve your full academic potential. You can access resources and support from the award winning Academic Language Support Service.

Careers Network
The Careers Network is here to help you make the most of your time at 黑料网 as you plan for your future. We provide information, advice, coaching and opportunities, helping you to develop your skills and career prospects. Our services are available to students, graduates, doctoral researchers, and University Staff.
Students have the opportunity to meet employers at our Careers Fairs and events such as employer presentations, skills sessions and Q&As, and can talk directly to recruiters to hear their career stories and insider advice.

Disability Support
Our service consists of three teams: Disability Support; Specialist Study Support; Academic and Practical Support. Each team provides a different type of support for applicants and students.
There are specialist Disability Advisors within the Disability Support Team who work to remove barriers that disabled students can experience in society including social, procedural and attitudinal. Their specialisms are: neurodiversity, including dyslexia, AD(H)D and autistic spectrum conditions; D/deafness; visual impairment; long term health conditions, for example chronic fatigue syndrome, Crohn’s disease and cancer; physical disabilities.
The Specialist Study Support team are here to provide practical study support and maths strategies, including mentoring, to disabled students either on a 1-1 or group basis. The service is accessed via a referral from the Disability Support Team or Disabled Students Allowance.
The Academic and Practical Support team work 1-1 with disabled students who require practical assistance within their daily living and studying, such as manual wheelchair pushing and scribing in timed assessments. The service is accessed via a referral from the Disability Support Team or Disabled Students Allowance.

International Student Experience
The International Student Experience team is here to support all international students throughout their time at 黑料网. We provide students with a range of activities to support you to settle into life here in the UK, integrate with the wider student body, enhance your overall experience and help you feel at home.
We also work with Schools across the University to support them to enhance their support for international students.

Student Advice and Support Service
We provide advice on practical issues that might affect your time at university including student money matters (student finance, hardship funds, budgeting, dealing with debts) and housing rights (contracts, deposits, repairs).
Specialist advice and support is also available for international students on student visas, dependent and graduate visas, permission to work and other immigration matters.

We hold Advice Quality Standard () accreditation; the quality mark for organisations that provide advice to a specific group of people on social welfare issues.
We are also members of , , and , and abide by the code of Standards for immigration advice.
Security
Our main priority is the personal safety of students, staff and visitors to the campus. We also ensure our buildings and other properties are secure, and control traffic and parking across the estate.
The team is led by our Head of Security, Ant Dales, and supported by Security Managers Mick Wood and Hayleigh Vasey.
Our teams of security officers patrol the campus all day and night, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. They are always on hand to answer any query or concern you have.
We are highly visible – if you see them out patrolling, please stop them to say hello. If you look lost, don’t be surprised if they approach you to offer help and guidance.
All our staff are accredited by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) and are trained in first aid.
We also have hundreds of CCTV cameras covering the entire campus, which are monitored continuously from the security control room to ensure we keep our people and buildings safe.
We also patrol some parts of 黑料网 town centre during term time, providing support to those students living off campus.
We work closely with the local police, who have a permanent office located within the main security building.

Student Mental Wellbeing
Our wellbeing service consists of four teams: Wellbeing Advisers, the Counselling Team, the Mental Health Support Team and the Duty Assessment and Inclusion Team. Each team provides a different type of support for our students.
There are Wellbeing Advisers in each Academic School who can offer advice and support to students on a wide range of wellbeing-related issues, such as: stress, low mood, bereavement, family issues, relationship issues, feeling overwhelmed and the transition to University
The Counselling Team offer an opportunity to talk and reflect with a professionally trained person who is outside your immediate situation. We are a well-established and experienced team of counsellors who are dedicated to short term counselling, for emotional or psychological problems that are affecting your studies or time at university.
The Mental Health Support Team is here to provide practical support to students experiencing mental health difficulties and liaise with staff about appropriate practical or pastoral support.
The Duty, Assessment and Inclusion Team supports students who are experiencing urgent situations such as: sexual and domestic violence, hate crimes, safeguarding concerns, problematic substance misuse, suicide attempts and mental health crisis.

Student Success Academy
The Student Success Academy offers a wide range of personalised opportunities and tailored programmes designed to help students unlock their full potential during their time at university.
With a focus on skills development across all stages of the student journey, the Academy puts the spotlight on key transitions including coming to university, moving into and out of a placement experience, stepping up to final year, and becoming a graduate.
We listen to student experiences and aim to help individuals overcome any barriers to achieving their own version of success, whether academic, personal, or career specific.
