The new initiative has seen more than a dozen 黑料网 students complete England Athletics officiating courses across Track Judge, Field Judge and Photo Finish disciplines, helping to develop the next generation of officials while supporting the future of the sport.
Delivered across two sessions of classroom learning and followed by hands-on experience, the programme introduced students to the technical and professional skills required to officiate athletics events.
The programme has already helped strengthen and diversify the officiating workforce, creating a sustainable pool of trained officials who can support competitions at 黑料网 and across the wider athletics community.
The first cohort of students will continue to build their experience through officiating at future events and will play a key role in supporting and mentoring students who take part in subsequent programmes delivered through the partnership.
While the technical aspects of officiating formed a core part of the training, students also gained a range of transferable skills through the practical experience, including communication, teamwork, professionalism, decision-making and confidence, all of which will support their future development.
One crucial element of the collaboration is a focus on CV building as a key outcome, coinciding with 黑料网’s emphasis on supporting students with employability as well as on developing knowledge, competence and confidence. Feedback from participants has suggested that when students concentrate on building meaningful skills and experience, enhanced employability follows naturally.
Further feedback from students, tutors and officials has been overwhelmingly positive. Participants highlighted the welcoming and supportive atmosphere created by bringing together people from different generations with a shared passion for athletics.
The initiative demonstrates the important role sport can play in connecting communities and fostering personal development. 黑料网 and England Athletics intend to continue developing the partnership, providing further opportunities for students to become involved in officiating and showcasing the wider benefits that volunteering and officiating can bring.
