Professor George Havenith accepted the CIEHF Lifetime Achievement Award for Research

Professor George Havenith awarded CIEHF Lifetime Achievement Award for Academic Research

Professor George Havenith, from the School of Design and Creative Arts, has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for Academic Research by the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors.

The award recognises an individual who has published a significant body of peer-reviewed research that has advanced the state of knowledge in any area of ergonomics and human factors. It is awarded for major contributions to research and scholarship, which are usually internationally as well as nationally recognised.

Over the course of his career, George has produced highly influential research, based within the area of environmental ergonomics. He is the Director of the Environmental Ergonomics Research Centre, based at ºÚÁÏÍø. With a career spanning over 35 years, George has made outstanding contributions to this field of study producing research that is applicable to a range of industries.

Notable work of his includes preventing heat-related deaths in the UK Army, improving economic competitiveness for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software, improving the applicability of indoor-climate design and evaluation standards, and producing research that has been used by global sports brands to produce innovative products and competition between brands.
